Welcome

At Applied Welding Technology (AWT), we are committed to providing our clients with innovative solutions for their most challenging pressure part and mechanical part repair requirements.

Since our establishment in 1987, AWT has grown from a small 12-man operation with a steel yacht in the workshop to a fully integrated facility offering comprehensive welding, machining, fabrication, and testing services.

Located in Spartan, Kempton Park, our facility benefits from a strategic network of subcontractors with specialized capabilities not readily available in-house.

What We Do

With a primary focus on welding and machining critical parts, AWT excels in working with a wide range of materials. Our expertise extends to rebuilding with base materials and cladding surfaces using Stellite, Inconel, Bronze, Stainless steel, Monel, and more.

Whether it’s handling items as large as 10 tons or working with nozzles featuring 32mm bores, we leverage our in-house machining and heat treatment capabilities to deliver comprehensive solutions.

AWT specializes in the full spectrum of power station and petrochemical materials.

Quality control and assurance are fundamental to our processes. We diligently monitor every step and conduct industry-standard tests at necessary intervals, accompanied by meticulous documentation, ensuring the highest standards of excellence.

AWT specializes in welding materials that operate in high-temperature, high-pressure environments, as well as materials subjected to erosive conditions. With over 300 approved welding procedures certified by an experienced welding engineer and a Government Approved Inspection Authority, we offer tried-and-tested solutions for a wide range of challenges, ensuring efficient execution.

We hold several key approvals, including Eskom Level 1 welding approval, ISO 3834 Part 2 approval, and TUV Rheinland ISO 9001:2015 approval, underscoring our commitment to quality and compliance. Our track record in responding to emergency requirements in power stations, where critical parts are needed, speaks to our ability to provide quality solutions for seemingly intractable problems.

In addition to our factory-based systems, AWT boasts dedicated site teams capable of performing specialized welding tasks. These teams have successfully executed repairs on valves, pumps, fans, valve chests, diffusers, and other equipment. Whenever possible, we employ automatic machinery, utilizing a diverse range of machines to meet specific requirements.

AWT takes immense pride in its expertise in performing seat replacements on welded valve bodies, including gate and NRV types.
